Victoria’s Public Sector leaders recognised for extraordinary efforts in 2020

The tremendous efforts of the state’s public sector teams and organisations during 2020 have been recognised at IPAA Victoria’s annual Leadership in the Public Sector Awards Ceremony in Melbourne.

The awards, held in-person at ZINC at Federation Square and streamed online, took on extra significance as they rewarded the work undertaken by all levels of government, and their related service organisations, during the immense challenges of 2020 including the devastating bushfires at the start of the year and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.Finalists came from 16 different departments and organisations with award winners covering a wide range of public sector projects, including family violence reform, bushfire recovery, a clean-energy focused pilot program and new technology aimed at improving patient mental health support for Ambulance Victoria paramedics.IPAA Victoria Acting Chief Executive Officer, Karina Posanzini congratulated the eight category winners and praised the level of leadership displayed in often very difficult circumstances.“It has been fantastic to be able to come together in person to recognise the incredible achievements across the Victorian public sector during 2020, and the fact we are able to be together is an achievement that can be attributed to a lot of the work undertaken by the people here tonight,” Ms Posanzini said.“The Leadership in the Public Sector Awards honours the energy, expertise, and dedication of teams and organisations working in, and with, the Victorian public purpose sector.“This year’s theme is The Everyday.
