Empower leaders to proactively manage workplace behavior: address concerns with confidence

 

IPAA Victoria’s Managing Workplace Behaviour course will provide people leaders with the knowledge and tools to proactively address behavioural concerns in the workplace. 

Course overview

Participants will focus on early intervention and informal resolution, this two-part course will support people leaders to lead in the modern workplace and instil confidence in addressing employee issues proactively and effectively.   

The course is designed to:

  • Explore the expectations for workplace behaviour and the role of people leaders.  
  • Provide a brief overview of the legal and policy framework, followed by practical case studies on how these behaviours appear in the modern workplace through various scenarios. 
  • Build on the themes from the first session and provide practical tools to address workplace issues (including performance and conduct) proactively and requests. 
  • Strategies for having the conversations and giving and receiving feedback effectively. 

      Course outcomes

      This course equips people leaders with the skills and tools to address workplace behavioural concerns proactively, focusing on early intervention and informal resolution for effective leadership:

      • What constitutes unlawful discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment and victimisation and what they can look like in the modern workplace.  
      • Legal consequences for engaging in these conducts and failing to manage it effectively.  
      • Interaction with employer obligations regarding sexual harassment, psychosocial safety, flexible working and the Right to Disconnect.  
      • How do these duties influence your role and responsibilities as a people leader. 
      • Practical measures to prevent issues from occurring in the first place, both in your role as a leader and in empowering your team to take an active role as workplace participants. 
      • Strategies for dealing with workplace issues once they arise, including “inherited” issues.
